Burt Awelagte, Zuni, has carved this crawstone gem intothis delightful frog fetish carving. The frog has an offeringbundle of  coral, turquoise, penshell enwrapped insinew. He is 3 2 3/8" in lenght by 1 1/2" tall and 2" wide.He has inlaid turquoise eyes and is signed on bottom by the artist.  Nice size.


Burt is from the Othole family of carvers from Zuni. Hisstyle is towards the traditional with arrowheads and bundle offerings."Abstract and unique is also a characteric of my creations."

Crawstone is from Pliocene of Baja, Mexico and is cut fromboulders found on the beaches. The stone is often referred to a Seafood Buffetbecause it often includes a variety of fossil clams, oysters, corals,gastropods and such.
