This Kingman Birdseye turquoise necklace is made by the Navajo artist, Albert Jake. The Kingman turquoise has a light sand-brown to darker brown matrix and is set in a smooth silver bezel encircled with a silver twist and hand stamped design work, 1 5/16" by 7/8". The turquoise pendant is 2 1/2" by 1 3/8" with the silver bail and is on 16 1/2" of silver beads. The beads have 8mm round and 8mm corrugated round beads with a sterling silver hook closure. This necklace is signed by the artist.
The Kingman turquoise mine is located in the Mineral Park Mining District in the Cerbat mountain range in northwestern Arizona. Birdseye is also known as "water webbed" where there are lighter blue encircled by darker turquoise blue matrix or mineral matrix. Water webbing occurs rarely in pockets of the mine, thus, making it valuable to collectors.
